Summary
The present report of the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea is submitted pursuant to General Assembly resolution 74/166. In the report, the mandate holder provides an overview of recent developments in the human rights situation in the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea in the context of the threat of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak as well as progress made towards peace, security and denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula. The report updates the international community on issues of concern regarding the situation of human rights and reiterates the importance of engagement with the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea.
