On the occasion of the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta, the Yonsei Center for Human Liberty, the Christian Solidarity Worldwide, National Human Rights Commission of Korea, and the International Coalition to Stop Crimes against Humanity in North Korea (ICNK) in cooperation with a number of other organizations are hosting the inaugural Seoul Dialogue for Human Rights titled, Celebrating the 800th Anniversary of Magna Carta: In Search of Liberty and Human Rights in North Korea.

This conference aims to rekindle the founding goals of the Charter in the hopes of applying the lessons learned to North Korea where three generations of tyranny has systematically deprived the people of their fundamental rights.

The conference promises to carry the momentum created by the UNs COI report, to calibrate the measures available to keep the pressure on the North Korean regime, and to eventually institutionalize an annual Track 1.5 Global Human Rights Summit in Seoul – a human rights version of the Asia Security Summit held annually in Singapore, better known as the Shangri-La Dialogue.

The conference will feature world-renowned speakers and panelists including Jose Ramos-Horta, former President of East Timor & Nobel peace prize laureate, Michael Kirby, former Chair of UNs COI, Baroness Buscombe, member of the House of Lords, Marzuki Darusman, UN Special Rapporteur on North Korea, Suzanne Scholte, President of the Defense Forum, Martin Lee, Barrister-at-Law and founder of the Democratic Party in Hong Kong, Robert King, U.S. Special Envoy for North Korean Human Rights Issues, and many more. Please join to give your support in the global effort to provide the beacon of hope for those North Koreans desperately yearning for freedom.
