The Neglected North Korean Crisis: Women's Rights in North Korea


North Koreas nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs receive much of the international communitys attention, often relegating the issue of human rights to the sidelines. Despite North Koreas constitutional promise of gender equality, women face discrimination, pervasive harassment and extensive violation of their rights by the regime. Meanwhile, the significant role they play in marketizing the economy and liberalizing society is underestimated.
