Please join us for a special discussion with Dr. Evan Medeiros and Dr. Jiyoon Kim on the nexus of China, South Korea and North Korea relations, and domestic South Korean politics.

Dr. Evan Medeiros is the Penner Family Chair in Asia Studies in the School of Foreign Service and the Cling Family Distinguished Fellow in U.S.-China Studies, Georgetown University. His research and teaching focuses on the international politics of East Asia, U.S.-China relations and Chinas foreign and national security policies. He has published several books and articles and regularly provides advice to global corporations and commentary to the international media.  Dr. Medeiros expertise is a unique blend of research expertise and practical experience. He previously served for six years on the staff of the National Security Council as Director for China, Taiwan and Mongolia - and then as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Asia. In the latter role, Dr. Medeiros served as President Obama's top advisor on the Asia-Pacific and was responsible for coordinating U.S. policy toward the Asia-Pacific across the areas of diplomacy, defense policy, economic policy, and intelligence. He was actively involved in all aspects U.S.-China relations for six years, including several U.S.-China summits.

Dr. Jiyoon Kim is a Senior Research Fellow of the Institute of Democracy and Education. She is also a popular and highly acclaimed political analyst specialising in election and public opinion analysis. She was most recently the host of Jiyoon Kims Evening Show on TBS FM, where she discussed current issues with high-profile politicians and opinion leaders.  Prior to TBS FM, Dr. Kim hosted MBCs 100 Minute Debate, the most respected political debate programme in Korea. Previously, Dr. Kim was a senior research fellow in the Center for Public Opinion and Quantitative Research at the Asan Institute for Policy Studies. Her research interests include elections and voting behavior, American politics, and political methodology.  She received her Ph.D. in political science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
