COVID-19 in North Korea: Surmountable or Existential Crisis?

North Korea was one of the first countries to close its borders with the outbreak of COVID-19 in China. While Pyongyang took this step to protect against the spread of COVID-19 domestically, it has harmed the North Korean economy. However, despite the economic costs and healthcare concerns, North Korea has continued to conduct missile tests and now faces questions of stability due to the uncertainty of Kim Jong-un’s health.
