SR Quintana, starting point for human rights dialogue

Tomas Ojea Quintana, special rapporteur on human rights in the DPRK stated in Geneva that “It is important that the momentum that has been enabled by the Winter Olympics be used to discuss possibilities for bilateral technical support that may help tackle some of the urgent human rights challenges in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.”

Ojea Quintana asked the North Korean authorities to release nine foreign nationals and resolve long-standing cases of abductions of South Koreans and Japanese.

He is going to give a presentation about the situation of the DPRK on the 12th March based on the report submitted to the 37th Session of the Human Rights Council.
