The chairman of the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee called for an end to human rights abuses in North Korea, according to the Korea times.
Rep. Ed Royce said, ”The government of North Korea is responsible for carrying out some of the world’s most heinous and cruel abuses against human rights,” and, “it is time that we hold North Korea accountable for its violations of human rights and its assault on human dignity.”
North Korea has long been accused of human rights abuses, and the U.N Commission of Inquiry Report on Human Rights Abuses into North Korea recommended referring crimes against humanity in North Korea to the ICC.
