Some press sources are reporting that Camp No. 22 has not been closed. Daily NK's article on September 27th stated that Camp No. 22 in North Hamkyung Province had closed sometime in June. It is estimated that the camp held at its peak between 20,000 and 50,000 prisoners.
Evidence released on Wednesday by HRNK and DigitalGlobe suggests that the reports may have been premature. The report suggests that harvesting and coal production are ongoing. There has not yet been any confirmation either way as to whether it has closed or not.
