Figures just released by the South Korean government have shown that here has been a 15% decrease in defectors coming to South Korea in the first two months of this year when compared to the first two months of 2012.
It is likely that the reason for the drop in defectors arriving in the South is that the regime's efforts to clamp down on people leaving the country have been successful.
206 defectors arrived in the country within the first two months. Last year saw a considerable drop in those arriving in South Korea in comparison to previous years.
