Reports
emanating from U.S. officials have suggested that the U.S. will back
the establishment of a Commission of Inquiry into crimes against
humanity in North Korea at the 22nd session of the UN
Human Rights Council which starts later this month.
The
confirmation has not been yet made public officially by the U.S. as,
according to the officials, they are awaiting for international
consensus on the details of the inquiry before moving ahead.
If
the U.S. does support a COI, they will become the fourth major party
to do so following the Japanese, Australian and the European
parliaments' decisions to publicly state their support for the
establishment of a COI
