Radio
Free Asia reported that the North Korean authorities ongoing
threat of war is making peoples lives harder.
Because
of the war atmosphere, the value of a dollar is increasing in North
Korea, which is leading to a rise in rice prices. According to a
merchant in North Korea, 1kg of rice currently costs 7,500 won. He
also added that rice prices and the dollar's value has increased
since the authorities stopped the operation of Kaesong Industrial
Region on the 8th.
Although
general North Korean people are struggling because of the hardships,
the wealthy classes are still enjoying buying expensive clothes. As a
result of hardships, the gap between the wealthy and the poor is
rising.
