Denial of Entry to North Korean Migrants

Chinese border guards have barred North Korean migrant workers from entering the country, according to a report by Radio Free Asia.

A source told RFA that one group of migrants had been working in Donggang on short-term visas. The group's visas required them to return to North Korea every month. Upon attempting to return to China for work recently, they were barred from entry.

The barring of the workers follows recent inspections of Chinese businesses to root out illegal North Korean employees.

Although the Chinese authorities have backed UN sanctions recently, it is unclear whether the restrictions on migrants is because of those sanctions.
