According to Chinese officials, North Korea recently captured a Chinese fishing boat that was moving between the Chinese city Dalian and the Korean peninsula and is demanding 600,000 yuan ($97,600) in ransom for the return of its 16 crew members. While seizing Chinese fishing boats is not a new behavior, tensions between the countries have been rising as North Korea continues to pursue a nuclear and ballistic missile program.
