According to Radio Free Asia, North Korean people are planting rice with their bare hands because of a lack of agricultural machinery.

RFA pointed out that when the Kim Jong Eun regime compared rice to bullets they were demonstrating that food insecurity is of the utmost urgency. However, oil and agricultural machinery are insufficient, so mobilized North Korean people are planting rice with their bare hands. As a result of the work conditions, many students and soldiers involved in the planting are being struck with diseases, according to an RFA source.
