According to a recent news article by the Daily NK, South Korean accessories are in hot demand in Pyongyang.

 

According to the article, there has been a recent surge in the trade of earrings and necklaces in the capital city. While many of these accessories come in from China, it appears that some might also be coming in from South Korea. Yet it still remains difficult to determine if the accessories on sale are indeed of South Korean origin, or if they are in fact higher-end Chinese products.

 

Only a few years ago, jewelry was mostly popular among party cadres and performers. However, now it appears that this trend has spread to the general population. This increasing demand for accessories is a sign of the changing tastes and preferences of North Koreans.
