Seoul USA, a missionary organization in North Korea, says, Many underground Christians are middle class who are comparatively free in movement.

Rev. Eric Foley of Seoul USA presented a video of underground Christian movement that was recorded in North Korea early this year to the public. The video shows that most underground Christians in North Korea are middle class. Rev. Foley said that even though these underground Christians in North Korea are poor, most of them belong to the middle class, such as traders. Their earnings are in foreign currency that is acquired by trading with foreign countries, thus giving them more opportunity to interact with Christians in other countries, Foley said.

Rev. Foley said that the reason why he demonstrated this video to the public was in order to help correct the false information release by the North Korean authorities on purpose. The North Korean authorities try to get more money and food aid by releasing false information that underground Christians in North Korea suffer from extreme starvation and persecution, he said. Therefore, to reflect the truth about the underground Christians in North Korea, Seoul USA presented this video to the public.
