North Korea forces cellphone users to install surveillance app

Starting this month, North Korea is forcing citizens in hold of a cellphone to install an application called Kwangmyong before getting their quarterly card at the post office.

The government claims that this application can provide their users with the Rodong newspaper, foreign education, and cooking techniques. However, it is believed that Kwangmyong application enables North Korean authorities to track the users location and monitor their devices.

Citizens who refused to install Kwangmyong application had to buy their quarterly communication licenses at the black-market with a higher price of $12 instead of $0.40
