Seoul's Ministry of Unification reported Thursday that three defectors from a restaurant in China arrived in South Korea, two months after a similar defection of 13 restaurant workers. According to Kim Yong-hwa, president of the North Korean Refugee Human Rights Solidarity, China is a "heaven" compared to the North Korean system. The three workers were in Shaanxi province, China, when they first contacted Kim in May . The group escaped to South Korea via Thailand. According to Kim, defections from overseas North Korean workers has increase while the overall number of defections has been decreasing due to stronger border security from the DPRK.
