A South Korean diplomat said on Monday that the country will actively work to persuade member states at the latest UN Human Rights Council session to back the establishment of a Commission of Inquiry into crimes against humanity in North Korea.
Yonhap News reported earlier in the day that two South Korean government officials had stated that the Human Rights Council is likely to pass a vote on the establishment of a COI.
By backing a COI, South Korea has become the latest country to show its support after Japan, Australia, the EU, the U.S.A, and Canada earlier publicly stated their backing.
