Smart Phones are predicted to become popular in North Korea after the release of the Eumsong-patgi, North Koreas first commercially available smart phone. The phone is currently priced at around $600. Sources told the Daily NK that sales are currently low.:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
The new smart phone seemingly has similar capabilities to most smart phones in other countries. However, internet access is currently unavailable.
The new phone is currently out of reach of most consumers, but is apparently liked by the cadres that are able to afford it. The regime is only accepting dollars from people wanting to buy the phone so it is a handy line for raising foreign currency.
